Wind Hellas, Vodafone Greece to partner on fibre networks

2016-07-12 11:14:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) Wind Hellas entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Vodafone Greece to cooperate on the implementation and use of fixed fibre infrastructure. The shared network infrastructure will provide Greek consumers with broadband access services, contributing substantially to the Digital Agenda 2020 national targets, the companies said. Having invested nearly EUR 3 billion to create telecommunications infrastructure from its inception until today, Wind Hellas said that in recent years it focused its investments in new mobile and fixed networks (4G / 4G +, VDSL, FTTx) which offer very high data rates and high capacity. A pilot of fibre optic infrastructure (Fiber to the Building) is currently running in the Athens region.
