We are currently looking for a XMMMewton Computer Operator to support our customer in Spain. XMMNewton Computer Operator Key Tasks and Responsibilities As part of the Computer Support Group CSG at ESAESAC you will provide computer support to all science operations centres and science ground segments, either in development or in operational phase. In this role you will have the following responsibilities Operating the required project systems, including execution of the relevant system operations procedures Monitoring the function and the performance of the different machines, including regular checkouts and maintenance of systems activity and event logs Handling of all required systems backups and restores Issuing and following up the corresponding hardware and software problem reports, including opening hardware incidents calls and following the call history as well as assisting technicians when on site Automation of manual repetitive activities, including development of procedures and scripts that could simplify various commands which are performed manually Support the CSG Computer System Engineers with respect to their CSG related activities First line Users support mainly scientists and engineers. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience Degree in computer science or related field Several years experience in a similar role Working knowledge of SUN Solaris system management Linux RedHat system management PC Windows system management Macintosh system management Backup management systems Storage SANNAS technologies Virtualization technologies Scientific user computer support Willingness to work in shifts Fluency in English is mandatory, knowledge of another European language is an advantage. This job is located near Madrid and has a shift pattern. We are looking for candidates who are available from July 2013 or as soon as possible thereafter.
