(Telecompaper) YouTube is planning to launch paid subscriptions for individual channels on its site, multiple people familiar with the plans told AdAge. YouTube has asked a small group of channel producers to submit applications to create channels that users would have to pay to access. The first paid channels would cost USD 1-5 a month and could launch as early as the second quarter, the report said. In addition to episodic content such as series, YouTube is also considering charging for content libraries and access to live event, as well as self-help or financial advice shows.
