a Cargill closing Memphis corn plant, cuts 440 workers

Cargill Inc. is closing its corn-milling facility in Memphis by early 2015, and may look to sell the property. The Wayzata-based agribusiness company said last week the plant is being shuttered due its distance from Midwest corn growers and the cost of shipping corn there.
