Staff butchers at the supermarket will move from behind-the-scenes to front-of-house and a job in customer service when the supermarket rolls out plans to truck in pre-packed meat from a central facility.

Masters was conceived in 2009, at a time when the Woolworths boardroom was over-confident and a certain arrogance had permeated the upper echelons of the company.

Australia's largest supermarket chain has engaged China-based eCargo Holdings to build and manage a Woolworths storefront on Alibaba's Tmall business-to-consumer online marketplace. ASX-listed eCargo will also coordinate Woolworths' inventory, packing and distribution requirements, advise on brand entry strategy and undertake a wide-range of digital and social marketing activities for the retailer.
