You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience Spacecraft system and subsystem knowledge ESOC spacecraft operations experience Familiarity with satellite control systems, in particular SCOS2000 Coordination with other service providers in operations Some experience dealing with external interfaces like ESACPIs will be an advantage Familiarity with operational simulators, especially the ones based on SimSat and with deep space or astronomy missions and MOIS 7 will be an advantage Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. Spacecraft Operations Engineer Geostationary Satellite Systems Darmstadt, Germany Thorn SDS is a cocontractor currently providing spacecraft engineering services to EUMETSAT, the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites. We are searching for both junior and senior engineers to complement our team in Germany. Candidates must be excellent communicators in English with a passion for the Space Industry. The responsibilities of the service include the routine and special operations of operational METEOSAT spacecraft, continuous monitoring of spacecraft performance and the operations preparation of the next generation of geostationary spacecraft. In addition to a relevant university degree, team members are expected to have expertise across one or more subsystems payload, thermal, power, TTC and to work seamlessly together with the rest of the team to ensure a level of competence is always available. Experience of Spacecraft Operations or Spacecraft Operations Preparation, preferably on Geostationary Earth Orbit GOE would be considered advantageous. The role will develop with the phases of the missions, so we are looking for engineers who can demonstrate initiative and flexibility in a fast paced environment. With experience of the full lifecycle of spacecraft flight procedures, you must have carried out validation and testing, with relevant experience of low Earth orbit satellite operations. You will have worked on anomaly investigations and have developed appropriate programming skills. Juggling tasks and making the most of the resources available to you will be essential in this role.
