Spirit Airlines weathered an unusual number storms that occurred back-to-back in the second quarter, causing more than 500 flight cancellations, the company said Friday. The Miramar-based airline said consecutive storm systems in Dallas, Chicago, New York and Detroit, followed by Tropical Storm Bill, collectively had a $20 million impact, including $5 million in lost revenue and $15 million in higher costs.
