U.S. EPA announced completion of latest round of awards under Environmental Education (EE) Grants Program. In 2015, EPA distributed 2 types of grants under EE Grants Program: Model Grants Request for Proposals (RFP) and Local Grant awards. Agency funded 35 grants, ranging from $40,000 to $192,200, across USA for total of ~$3.3 million. Recipients include organizations in 24 states as well as from Puerto Rico and District of Columbia.

Hawthorne Bridge closed Sunday for lift span work

The Hawthorne Bridge will be closed to motor vehicles on Sunday, November 15 from 5 am until as late as 5 pm during work on the lift span. Bridge sidewalks will remain open to pedestrians and bicyclists during the work. The drawbridge will be unable to open for river vessels during the work. The bridge will reopen to traffic as soon as the work is completed, which could be as early as noon. The work is not weather dependent.

Now with more bridge!: One proposal for a Verrazano Bridge bike lane would create additional lanes for bikes and pedestrians on the outside of the bridge's lower level. Going up: Engineers are considering building a biscyle ramp through John Paul Jones Park and a "switchback" pedestrian ramp on Federal land near Fort Hamilton Army Base.
