New-car sales in Spain rose 17 percent to 65,122 in November, the 15th consecutive month of growth, thanks in part to the support of a governmental scrappage scheme, car manufacturers' association Anfac said today. The government extended the PIVE subsidy scheme that offers price cuts on new low-emission vehicles at the end of the month, Anfac said in a statement.

Nov. 17, 2014: The National Automobile Dealers Association forecasts 16.94 million new cars and light trucks will be purchased or leased in the United States in 2015. "Rising employment and wages, continued low interest rates and lower gasoline prices all signal an increase in new light-vehicle sales in 2015," NADA Chief Economist Steven Szakaly said today at a press briefing ahead of the NADA / J.D. Power Western Automotive Conference in Los Angeles.

Car sales in Europe rose 6 percent in September, helped by automakers' price cuts and strong demand in the region's top markets of Germany, the UK and France. UK new-car registrations rose by 6 percent in September compared with the same month a year earlier, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders said today. The market is on track for a total of 2.45 million new-car registrations in 2014, which if reached, would be the highest level recorded since 2004.
