Tegra K1 64-bit Denver core analysis: Are Nvidias x86 efforts hidden within?
2014-01-06 19:08:06| Extremetech
Late last night at CES 2014, Nvidia surprised everyone by revealing that its in-house 64-bit ARM core, Project Denver, would arrive this year in the Tegra K1 (Tegra 5/Logan), rather than next year in Tegra 6 (Parker). The Tegra K1 will ship in two flavors, a quad-core Cortex-A15 and dual-core 64-bit Denver, both with the 192-core Kepler GPU. While the GPU is exciting, and we'll be discussing its ramifications in due course, it is Nvidia's 64-bit Denver core that we'll be looking at in this story.

Nvidia unveils Tegra K1 mobile graphic processor
2014-01-06 09:35:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) Nvidia announced the new Tegra K1 mobile processor, a new graphic chip to support PC-level gaming on mobile devices. The 192-core chip features the same Nvidia Kepler architecture that powers the company's GeForce GTX 780 Ti for PCs. The Tegra K1 is offered in two pin-to-pin compatible versions. The first version uses a 32-bit quad-core, 4-Plus-1 ARM Cortex A15 CPU. The second version uses a custom, Nvidia-designed 64-bit dual Super Core CPU. This CPU (codenamed Denver) delivers very high single-thread and multi-thread performance. It is based on the ARMv8 architecture, which brings the energy-efficient heritage of ARM processor technology to 64-bit computing. The 32-bit version is expected in devices in the first half of 2014, while the 64-bit version is expected in devices in the second half of the year.
