Shares of MannKind fell about 6 percent during trading Tuesday after the local pharmaceutical company announced it had regained the commercialization rights of its inhaled insulin, Afrezza. The commercialization of the drug had been handled in the past by Sanofi, a French pharmaceutical giant that told MannKind in January that it would no longer market the drug.

MannKind founder Al Mann will continue to have close ties with the company despite his resignation last week from the drug maker's board of directors, CEO Matt Pfeffer said Tuesday. "Al Mann's resignation has caused a lot of concern in some quarters," CEO Matt Pfeffer said on a webcast of the RBC Healthcare conference in New York City.
