T-Mobile launches LTE-A in Czech Republic

2014-07-01 15:30:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) T-Mobile Czech Republic launched a LTE Advanced (LTE-A) network in the city Mlada Boleslav. T-Mobile is the first operator in the country to offer LTE-A. The operator joined a 10 MHz block from the 800 MHz band and a 20 MHz block from the 1800 MHz band to launch the LTE-A services, offering a theoretical maximum speed of 225/50 Mbps. Using carrier aggregation, the download speed can be increased to a theoretical speed of 300/50 Mbps when connecting two 20 MHz bands and using a LTE category 6 device. T-Mobile is also increasing coverage and speeds in the capital Prague, where some locations offer LTE at 150/50 Mbps.

Telstra achieves 450Mbps with LTE-A Carrier Aggregation

2014-05-15 10:08:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) Australian carrier Telstra has demonstrated live network speeds of 450Mbps using LTE Advanced Carrier Aggregation across a trial combination of 1800MHz and 2600MHz bands. Telstra worked with network partner Ericsson to install equipment for two new 4G FDD channels of 20MHz bandwidth each on the 2600MHz spectrum band (40MHz FDD), aggregated with Telstra's live 20MHz of 4G on the 1800MHz band. The result was three simultaneous side-by-side paths for the data to travel through to the operational core network. Telstra also used an advanced prototype Cat 9 engineering device that could combine the three channels to achieve these speeds.
