Singtel's Hooq Digital files for liquidation

(Telecompaper) Hooq Digital, 76.5 percent owned by Singapore operator Singtel, said it has filed for liquidation, the Singapore Business Times reported. Sony Pictures and Warner Bros Entertainment also have stakes in the joint venture, which failed to take off after launching five years ago. Hooq said the OTT video market has undergone significant structural changes since then.

Singtel's quarterly revenue grows 2% on consumer, digital businesses growth

(Telecompaper) Singapore operator Singtel saw its revenue increase by 2 percent year-on-year to SGD 4.34 billion in the fiscal fourth quarter ended 31 March. Revenue growth was mainly boosted by its consumer business and growing digital businesses. Pre-tax profits for the regional associates declined 20 percent to SGD 389 million due to Airtel's results, which were affected by competitive pressures, and the associates' higher depreciation, spectrum amortisation and network costs from the expansion of their 4G networks. Net profit, which included exceptional gains from Airtel, was stable at SGD 773 million.

(Telecompaper) Singapore operator Singtel saw its operating revenue grow 3 percent year-on-year in constant currency terms to SGD 8.40 billion in the half-year ended 30 September, underpinned by strong postpaid mobile customer growth and higher equipment sales across Singapore and Australia. EBITDA fell 3 percent in constant currency terms, driven by lower NBN migration revenues in Australia, lower voice revenue, as well as investments in the Group's digital businesses.
