Israel-based lingerie, underwear and activewear manufacturer Delta Galil Industries has reaffirmed its full-year guidance on the back of an increase in earnings and revenue during the first quarter, and amid the appointment of former Macy's executive, Tim Baxter, as CEO of Premium Brands.

Veon organic revenues rise but net loss widens in Q1

(Telecompaper) Total revenues dipped 1.4 percent lower from the year before to USD 2.250 billion, hurt by the devaluation of the Uzbek and Pakistani currencies. Organically, revenues lifted 3.2 percent, driven by operations in Russia, Pakistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan, partially offset by continued weakness in Algeria and Bangladesh. Revenues from mobile data meanwhile jumped almost 16 percent to USD 505 million. Total mobile customer numbers, excluding the company's Italian joint venture, advanced 1.8 percent year-on-year to 210 million.

European smartphone sales plunge unprecedented 6% in Q1

(Telecompaper) European smartphone shipments fell an unprecedented 6.3 percent year on year in the first 3 months of 2018, the largest ever single quarter decline, according to a report from Canalys. Western Europe fell the most, down 13.9 percent with 30.1 million units shipped, led by falls of 29.6 percent, 23.2 percent and 16.7 percent in the UK, France and Germany. Central and Eastern Europe, on the other hand, posted a 12.3 percent year on year growth with 15.9 million units shipped, driven by a 25.4 percent annual rise in Russia.
