Archangel Lightworks is a startup specialised in space laser communications based in Harwell Space Campus, Oxfordshire. Founded in mid2017, we have secured longterm funding and successfully demonstrated several novel prototypes related to laser transmission and efficient perpendicular solar concentration. Our mission is to make 10x more data download possible to meet the demand from the growing satellites market, especially smallsats, delivering more data from the earth orbit to the ground at higher speed. Role responsibilities We are looking for an innovative, reliable and experienced 25 years Aerospace Product Assurance Quality Assurance PAQA Manager to ensure high output quality aiming to the longterm success of our business and augment our rapidly growing team. Generally speaking your presence should help us delivering great, reliable products services that may even set new industry standards! The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining a PA process within our startup, improving industrial processes, product qualitycompliance, and maintaining efficiency. Your duties will include inspecting procedures and outputs, and identifying mistakes or nonconformity issues, and organizing the verification of product. You should have solid experience in quality control together with great attention to details, and be able to make professional conclusions about the quality of products and services. Examples of job responsibilities include but not limited to Develop methods for inspection, testing, sampling and training. Review design documentation for compliance with contract requirements. Review and analyse procedures and report qualityrelated issues Ensure quality related deliverables meet the quality assurance program and customer requirements. Verify the reliability and consistency by checking processes and final output. Manage records of quality reports, statistical reviews and relevant documentation. Maintenance of project configuration items lists. Collect and analyse quality data Initiate nonconformance, corrective actions and perform root cause analysis. Proactive solutions suggestion. Supervise all operations that affect quality. Enforce the compliance with all legal standards. Oversee the usage of standards and policies Support and guide inspectors, technicians and other staff. Interact with external quality assurance officers during onsite inspections Interested applicants may also consider starting first as a fixedterm consultant while rolling into a permanent role although this is less preferred. REQUIREMENTS Required skillsexperience Knowledge of ECSS standards in PAQA, testing and verification. Product assurance experience in the space industry, ideally for cubesatsnanosatellites. Demonstrated ability to diagnose, report, track and resolve quality related issues. Substantial work experience of a scientific, engineering or technical nature involving data analysis and statistical methods. Proficient with MS Office Outlook, Word, Excel. Educated to degree level or equivalent in STEM subject or equivalent. Strong numerical skills, with great attention to detail and a results. Proficient English, positive attitude, selfdriven and interested in working in a startup environment Independent, quick learner, can structure and show initiatives to thoroughly evaluate and solve problems from different angles, proactively push progress forward Desirable additional skillsexperience Practical experience working in PAQA within the space industry, ideally on Cubesats. Experience of product assurance on space projects working to ECSS requirements. Chartered status awarded by an engineering, quality assurance or scientific organisation. Knowledge of inspection requirements and techniques for electronic and optical assemblies. Knowledge of ESA forbidden materialscomponents. Knowledge of laser safety and cleanliness for space systems. Experience working on Cubesat projects, UAV, HAPS projects. Certification of quality control, such as ISO 9000, will be a bonus FURTHER DETAILS Remuneration You will be remunerated competitively depending on your experience and skills. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Support the definition and implementation of PA and QA activities based on the tailoring of the applicable requirements and the related European Cooperation on Space Standardisation ECSS and Galileo software standards Produce Assurance ECSSQST10 Quality Assurance ECSSQST20 Software product assurance GSWS Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of an effective product assurance programme by coordinating the GSA internal processes and maintaining the related interfaces with ESA and industry. Coordinate the PA team, including several GSA contractors Oversee the maintenance of quality data records and PA critical items lists Participate in reviewsboardstechnical meetings Contribute to the definition of an effective nonconformance control system operating across all Galileo sites, and support the documentation, followup and closure of anomaly reports and nonconformance reports Support inhouse and supplier audits related to PA and QA activities Support the implementation of personnel training and certification related to PA and QA Contribute to the definition of metrology and calibration requirements Contribute towards the definition and followup of Dependability analysis Failure modes, effects and criticality analysis Fault tree analysis Common mode and common cause analysis Maintainability analysis Availability analysis Safety analysis Contribute to the definition and followup of software product assurance Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory At least 5 years project experience in a minimum of 2 projects in space programmes. At least level C1 in English understanding, writing and speaking. At least 2 years of technical experience of PA and QA. At least 2 years of team management experience. The following skills would be highly desirable At least 5 years of subcontractor management experience. At least 2 years of technical experience with defining key performance indicators and requirements for satellite operations. At least 2 years of technical experience in the field of space and ground segment development programmes gained by direct involvement in such programmes satellite navigation, including Space Based Augmentation Systems and geostationary satellites spacetoground interfaces andor At least 2 years of technical experience in system integration, space and ground segment procurement and operations gained through direct involvement in at least two separate space projects. At least 4 years of technical experience in GNSS user segment developments andor standardisation activities. At least 2 years of technical experience of configuration and documentation management.
