New Generation Solid State Power Amplifier Exceeds 1kW Output Power For Satellite Earth Stations
2014-07-16 21:01:10| rfglobalnet Downloads
Careful thermal design coupled with innovative heat sink technologies have resulted in an industry benchmark in solid-state power amplifier technology. This paper presents thermal management, design concepts and reliability measures of a 1.1 kW C Band solid-state power amplifier. The RF chassis of the SSPA 1.1 kW C Band amplifier has been realized in a 6 ru chassis compared to 7ru for the TWTA amplifiers for the same RF power. By Stephen D. Turner, Paradise Datacom LLC and Ahmed M. Zaghlol, R-Theta Inc.

Dot Earth Blog: China Clarifies its Plans on Setting a CO2 Emissions Peak
2014-07-15 17:34:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
New York Times: With climate treaty negotiations expected to intensify next year, China is signaling that it may soon set the timetable for hitting an eventual peak in its emissions of carbon dioxide, the most important human-generated greenhouse gas. The signals came on Monday from Xie Zhenhua, Chinas lead climate treaty negotiator, speaking at a German climate conference. Heres coverage by Xinhua, Chinas government-echoing news agency: China might announce a peaking year for its carbon emissions in...

Tom Steyer spends big to save earth
2014-07-13 16:00:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
Sacramento Bee: You might think last week didn't start out happy for Tom Steyer, the San Francisco billionaire who is spending his money and time trying to save the earth by fighting climate change. The front page of the Monday New York Times described Steyer in so many words as being a hypocrite for having run a hedge fund that "pumped hundreds of millions of dollars into companies that operate coal mines and coal-fire power plants," including an especially nasty 4,000-acre Australian coal mine. It didn't...
Ice Cores Show Volcanoes Cooled Earth Less Than Estimated
2014-07-10 11:01:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
LiveScience: Global cooling caused by some historic volcanic eruptions wasn't as extreme as climate scientists recently thought, according to newly revised ice core records from Antarctica. Volcanic eruptions blast sulfur-dioxide gas into the stratosphere, where it turns into tiny particles called sulfate aerosols that reflect the sun's energy and cool the Earth. Snow falling in Antarctica records the levels of sulfate in the air at the time, and it eventually becomes ice drilled by researchers in long, tubular...
