Piedmont Sewer Repair Project Update: March 17, 2016

Crews have completed sewer construction on N Missouri Avenue from N Bryant Avenue half way down the block south toward N Dekum Street. Trenches are patched with temporary asphalt. Final trench paving will be scheduled at a later date.

Argay Green Street Project Update: March 11, 2016

Environmental Services is designing a stormwater management project in the Argay neighborhood in northeast Portland. When it rains, water flows over streets, drains into the stormwater system and flows to the Columbia Slough. This project will build 53 green street planters next to sidewalks throughout the neighborhood. The planters will filter the stormwater before it enters the slough, helping to protect water quality and control stormwater runoff during heavy rain events.

Lower Powell Green Street and Sewer Repair Project Update: March 8, 2016

Environmental Services will begin construction this month on a project to replace and repair 4,508 feet of aging sewer pipe. The work will include constructing 22 green street planters and planting trees to absorb rain and reduce stormwater runoff. The project will keep about 1.6 million gallons of stormwater out of sewers annually, increase sewer system capacity and reduce basement backups.

SE Hawthorne-Salmon Area Green Street and Sewer Project Update: February 19, 2016

Environmental Services works on sewer construction projects in neighborhoods across Portland including neighborhoods with narrow streets where parking is at a premium. In these cases, as with this project, we try to find a nearby vacant lot where the contractor can store equipment and materials.

Southeast Interceptor Sewer Repair Project: Design update

Environmental Services is designing a project in inner southeast Portland to repair a deep interceptor sewer line that is deteriorating due to age. The project will extend the life of the sewer and protect public health, water quality and the environment. The city built the large-diameter Southeast Interceptor in 1954. It runs parallel to the Willamette River under inner southeast neighborhoods at depths ranging from 30 to 54 feet.
