Orange to launch Djingo speaker with Alexa support by spring, alongside new smart home, security services

(Telecompaper) Orange presented a range of new products and services at its annual Hello Show on 12 December. The event was also the opportunity to announce that the Djingo smart speaker, developed jointly with Deutsche Telekom, will be in stores by spring, later than the earlier expected year-end launch. Pricing is expected to start at EUR 49. The speaker is named after the Djingo voice-controlled personal assistant, which is also the virtual advisor for Orange Bank customers. Additionally, the device will support Alexa, as Orange and Amazon have partnered to expand multi-assistant integration in their future products.

Amazon Echo has 23% of U.S. smart speaker installations

According to a survey from Strategy Analytics, the most popular smart speaker model in the US is the Amazon Echo, which accounts for 23% of all smart speakers in use. Including all its models, Amazon accounts for 63% of smart speakers in use.

Google expands hardware range with Pixel Slate 2-in-1, Home Hub smart speaker

(Telecompaper) Google has unveiled a new smart speaker with display called the Home Hub and a Chrome-powered 2-in-1 tablet called the Pixel Slate. The Hub will launch for USD 149 from 22 October at retailers in the US. The Slate is scheduled to launch by year-end and starts at USD 599, plus USD 199 for an attachable keyboard and USD 99 for the Pixelbook Pen.
