(Telecompaper) Nokia and China Mobile entered into a one-year frame agreement valued at up to EUR 1.36 billion whereby Nokia will provide equipment and services to the mobile operator for its transition to a cloud network infrastructure. Both Nokia Networks China and ASB will provide services under the agreement. Under the agreement, Nokia will deploy its 5G-ready AirScale Base Station, which allows multiple radio technologies to operate simultaneously in one base station and offers virtually unlimited scalability to support 5G speeds and IoT demand. Nokia will also provide additional elements of its mobile radio access and core portfolio in addition to fixed access, IP routing and optical transport, customer experience management, operational support system (OSS) and third party products as well as its global Services expertise.
Telefonica, Red Hat sign global mobile app development deal

(Telecompaper) Telefonica Business Solutions, the B2B unit of Spanish telecoms operator Telefonica, has announced an agreement with open source software provider Red Hat to establish the Red Hat Mobile Application Platform as the mobile development reference platform for the entire Telefonica Group worldwide. As a result, all Telefonica units will use the platform to help business customers mobilise their business processes on the path to digital transformation. In a statement, Telefonica said a collaborative approach to mobile, enabled by open standards-based technologies such as Red Hat's platform, can help companies develop mobile apps that transform the way they do business. The company has been using Red Hat's platform in some markets since 2012 as part of its Enterprise Managed Mobility offering.

China Mobile, StarHub, True strike partnership deal

(Telecompaper) China Mobile has signed a memoranda of understanding (MoU) with Singapore operator StarHub and Thailand's True. The partners plan to accelerate strategic cooperation under the framework of China Mobile's 'Hand-in-Hand Program' ('hi-H Program'). The cooperation covers five major areas, including strengthening device collaboration on research initiatives for mobile network evolution technologies; increasing complementary capabilities for data business services; enhancing mobile business through global roaming cooperation and information sharing; usage of network resources to maximize efficiency; as well as co-development of new business opportunities in relation to innovation and IoT.
