Online.nl mounts challenge on triple-play market
2014-05-19 17:18:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) M7 Group aims to become the biggest challenger to KPN and UPC/Ziggo on the Dutch triple-play market, according to Bjorn Jeurissen, VP responsible for the Dutch activities. M7's pay-TV provider CanalDigitaal recently acquired broadband provider Online.nl from T-Mobile and expanded its triple-play offering to fibre networks. The combination of content from CanalDigitaal on the IPTV platform and internet and telephony from Online.nl should help the company become the most significant alternative to "the broad but expensive offering from KPN and UPC/Ziggo and the cheap but smaller triple-play offer from Tele2", Jeurissen said in an interview with Telecompaper. The company is starting a new phase of development, after completing its interactive TV platform, to market its triple-play offer across the country. In the third phase, running parallel to the second, it plans to add more functions and content to the IPTV platform. M7 is also focusing on service, including customer retention.

(Telecompaper) More than half of Dutch households (53%) were subscribed to three fixed services from one provider in Q4 2013. Six percent of those triple-play customers also had a mobile subscription from the same provider (quad-play), according to research from Telecompaper. The survey found that the Dutch providers Ziggo, UPC and KPN have been the most successful at signing up customers for triple-play, with almost six out of ten of their subscribers on triple-play in Q4 2013. Tele2 and Online had much lower penetrations, at just over a quarter of customers on triple-play subscriptions.
Bouygues undercuts triple-play rivals by a third
2014-02-27 09:05:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) French operator Bouygues Telecom will cut the price of its triple-play service to EUR 19.99 a month on 3 March, slashing a third off the market's standard price of EUR 30, and giving subscribers the option to cancel at any time, unlike the offers of its competitors. The new plan will be available in French cities with over 100,000 inhabitants where Bouygues has unbundled the local loop, amounting to some 12 million homes. There is no equipment rental cost either. The ADSL service includes 20 GB of cloud storage, up to 165 TV channels, a 40 GB PVR, VoD and catch-up TV. It also offers unlimited calls to fixed numbers in mainland France and 121 international destinations.
