Corn prices remain steadily higher

December 2014 corn futures closed Friday at about $3.72 per bushel and have been above $3.60 more than a month. Thats after they had tanked to $3.20 earlier this fall. Some contend the rally has been caused by harvest delays. But Darrel Good, University of Illinois ag economist, believes the rally is likely due to anticipation of fewer harvested acres. read more

What can boost corn, soybean prices?

Looking to give thanks for a bountiful harvest, not low prices. Your harvest is late and, like it or not, the holidays are coming. This is a good time to think of all the things we should be thankful for, but $3 corn and $9 soybeans have me in a Grinch-like mood. UPDATE 1-ADM sues Syngenta over rejections of GMO corn by China

Archer Daniels Midland Co sued seed company Syngenta AG on Wednesday over sales of a genetically modified corn variety not approved for import by China, joining more than 100 farmers and exporters in pursuing damages from the Swiss-based company. The lawsuit alleges that Syngenta commercialized the MIR162 corn variety, also known as Agrisure Viptera, without creating an effective stewardship program to ensure the grain would not be shipped to markets that have not approved it.

ADM Sues Syngenta Over Genetically Engineered Corn

Archer Daniels Midland Co. sued Syngenta AG over losses the grain trader and processor said it suffered after Syngenta sold genetically engineered corn in the U.S. that had yet to win approval in China.
