Iliad to acquire Polish operator Play for EUR 2.2 billion

(Telecompaper) French operator Iliad is continuing its European expansion with an agreement to acquire Polish operator P4, trading under the Play brand. Iliad has signed a binding agreement to purchase a 40 percent controlling interest from Play's two reference shareholders for PLN 39 per share, which will give Iliad the majority of seats on Play's management board. It will launch a public bid for the remaining Play shares at the same price, for a total price of EUR 2.2 billion, or EUR 3.5 billion including debt.

Macquarie offers EUR 2.65 bln for Enel's Open Fiber stake

(Telecompaper) Italian utility giant Enel has confirmed the receipt of a binding bid from Australian infrastructure fund Macquarie for its 50 percent stake in Italian wholesale-only operator Open Fiber. In a brief statement, Enel said Macquarie Infrastructure & Real Assets (MIRA) offered EUR 2.65 billion, excluding debt, for the stake, with further adjustment and earn out mechanisms to be taken into account. The state-backed utility said its board is now "awaiting updates on the details that may emerge following the required in-depth activities with MIRA on the content of the offer."
Altitude Infrastructure raises EUR 500 mln, unveils EUR 2.5 bln fibre investment plan

(Telecompaper) French fibre operator Altitude Infrastructure has announced that its subsidiary AI THD has raised EUR 500 million in equity and junior debt to fund fibre expansion and support the growth of newly acquired wholesaler Kosc. The operation consists of two transactions that should be finalised during the fourth quarter, subject to regulatory approval. A pension fund managed by the Real Assets and Private Markets division of UBS Asset Management will provide the capital raised in equity, said the company.

French govt pledges EUR 240 mln towards 100% fibre coverage target

(Telecompaper) The French government has announced an additional EUR 240 million worth of funds to extend the reach of fibre networks in rural areas. The measure is part of a EUR 100 billion stimulus plan to support the country's economic recovery, of which 40 percent will be provided by the European Union's recently approved EUR 750 billion recovery package.
