(Telecompaper) Xiaomi has unveiled its latest 'flagship killer' under the Poco brand. Tailored to tech enthusiasts, the Poco F2 Pro comes  with the top-of-the-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor with 5G access and the latest LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage, as well as a quad rear camera, 6.67-inch Full HD+ Amoled display and 20-megapixel pop-up front camera.

Cellnex sales up 49% to EUR 358 mln in Q1 following asset acquisitions

(Telecompaper) Spanish operator Cellnex Telecom, Europe's largest mobile towers company, reported revenues of EUR 358 million in the first quarter of 2020, up 49 percent year on year, with EBITDA surging 64 percent to EUR 260 million. Both figures were strongly impacted by the series of asset acquisitions made in 2019 in France and Italy (Iliad), Switzerland (Salt), the UK (BT), Ireland (Cignal) and Spain (Orange), as well as the purchase of OMTEL in Portugal, which closed on 02 January 2020.

Italy launches EUR 400 mln plan to bring gigabit fibre to schools

(Telecompaper) Italy's Ministry of Economic Development (MISE) has announced a new EUR 400 million plan to boost takeup of high-speed fibre services at schools throughout the country. The aim is to equip 81.4 percent of Italy's schools, equivalent to a total of 32,213 buildings, with fibre-optic equipment that guarantees download speeds of at least 100Mbps and up to 1Gbps within the next two years. In addition to the structural costs, the funds made available also cover connectivity costs for up to 5 years, said the ministry.

TIM, Vodafone sell joint 8% stake in Inwit towers unit for EUR 800 mln

(Telecompaper) Telecom Italia (TIM) and Vodafone Italia have sold an 8 percent stake in their jointly-owned towers company Inwit for a total of around EUR 800 million with a view to reducing debt. In separate statements, TIM and Vodafone each confirmed that they successfully completed the sale of 41.7 million shares of Inwit, equal to around 4.3 percent of the share capital, at a price of EUR 9.60 per share, resulting in gross proceeds to each company of around EUR 400 million.

Cellnex acquires Nos towers for EUR 375 million

(Telecompaper) Cellnex has reached an agreement with Portuguese operator Nos for the acquisition of 100 percent of Nos Towering for EUR 375 million. The transaction initially involves around 2,000 telecommunications towers and rooftop sites.
