"Goldman Sachs downgraded telecom stocks in mid-June, Investor's Business Daily reported Monday, "though it said that the sector's 4.9% dividend yield, the highest in the S&P 500, remained attractive." Telecom giant AT&T, which is headquartered in Dallas and employs 250,000 workers, saw its shares lose 3.03% of their value Monday, closing at $32.37 amid heavy trading volume of 75 million shares.

New York AG says PSC should investigate Verizon, state's telecom industry

Eric Schneiderman, New York's attorney general, has written a letter to the New York Public Service Commission asking the state regulator to investigate Verizon and look at how the deregulation of the New York telecom market is impacting businesses and consumers. In a series of public hearings the NYPSC held in various locations throughout the state, a number of local politicians and community members talked about their telecommunications experience, particularly with Verizon.
