Most Americans own a mobile phone and Verizon is looking at offering video content to increase data consumption on mobile devices and grow revenue.

Verizon has introduced a new 100 Mbps symmetrical speed tier for its FiOS Quantum service in New York Metro area, a move to lure broadband consumers away from Time Warner Cable and Cablevision where it has built out its fiber-to-the-home platform. Eligible FiOS customers in New York City, Long Island, the northern suburbs and northern New Jersey will be able to get the 100 Mbps symmetrical Internet offering on a standalone basis or as part of a dual-play or triple-play bundle.
