SK Telecom Q1 profit jumps 29.3% boosted by Loen stake sale

(Telecompaper) SK Telecom saw its first-quarter revenue reach KRW 4.229 trillion, which represents a decline of 0.3 percent year-on-year. The drop was mainly due to the elimination of sign-up fees and increased number of subscribers who choose contract-based mobile fee discounts, the company said. Despite reduced equity method gain from SK Hynix, the net income increased by 29.3 percent year-on-year, reaching KRW 572.3 billion at 31 March 2015, as SK Planet sold its controlling stake in Loen Entertainment in the first quarter of 2016.

NTT Group's 9-month net profit jumps more than 34%

(Telecompaper) Japanese operator NTT Group reported a 34.3 percent increase in its net profit for the nine months ended 31 December 2015 to JPY 604 billion. Revenues rose 3.8 percent year-on-year to JPY 8.49 trillion, and operating profit jumped 23.7 percent to JPY 1.1 trillion.

Axiata Group profit jumps 45.9% boosted by tower gains at XL

(Telecompaper) Axiata Group saw its revenue increase by 7.6 percent quarter-on-quarter to MYR 5.1 billion in the third quarter of 2015. EBITDA was up 8.7 percent to MYR 1.9 billion, and profit after taxation and minority interests (PATAMI) jumped 45.9 percent to MYR 891 million. PATAMI growth was mainly driven by one-off tower gains at XL1 and foreign exchange gains, the company said.
