Softbank FY profit jumps 32% to JPY 763 bln

(Telecompaper) Japanese operator Softbank reported net profit for the fiscal year to March 2014 up 32.1 percent to JPY 763.6 billion. Revenues jumped by 30.1 percent to JPY 8.670 trillion, while operating profit declined by 8.8 percent to JPY 982.7 billion. Net sales growth was mainly boosted by the mobile communications segment and the Sprint unit in the US.

Ab InBev profit jumps; strong dollar weighs

Anheuser Busch InBev NV said on Wednesday that a derivatives gain pushed up its net profit sharply in the first quarter, helping offset weak U.S. demand for the group's beers and the impact of a strong dollar on revenue from the rest of its global beer empire. AB InBev, the world's largest brewer, said net profit jumped to $2.68 billion in the three months to end-March from $1.37 billion in the same period a year ago.

United Airlines' first-quarter profit jumps, but watch out - other changes are coming

That distinctive used-airplane smell could become much more familiar to United Airlines passengers in years to come as the Chicago-based carrier revealed a major change in fleet plans today. That was just one bit of news buried in United Airlines' 14-page report on its 2015 first quarter financials , which included a record first-quarter profit of $582 million, a major turnaround from the $609 million loss a year ago.

ZTE profit jumps 42% in Q1

(Telecompaper) ZTE said net profit rose 41.9 percent year-on-year in the first quarter to CNY 883 million, boosted by the company's M-ICT strategy, which generated new growth avenues. Basic earnings per share climbed to RMB 0.24, while revenue lifted 10.2 percent to CNY 21 billion. Operating revenue from telecommunications software systems, services and other products increased by 23.4 percent, pulled up by strong growth from video and network terminal products, in addition to services. Revenue from carrier networks increased by 8.9 percent, driven by growth in sales of products such as wireless communication systems, wireline switch and access systems, routers and router switches. Operating revenue from handset terminals was up by 7 percent, reflecting mainly higher sales of 4G handset terminals.
