Our client is a space sector Propulsion specialist based in Northern Ireland. On behalf of this Client we are recruiting for a procurement engineer with experience of space propulsion and thruster technology. We are therefore presently seeking an experienced Supply Chain or procurement engineer from the space industry. This role is to be working on a 5 kW Thruster project for the space industry and other future propulsion projects. This role is a long term contract position and also has the possibility to become permanent for the right candidate. Role Description Understanding application of the following Monitoring data management to keep accurate product, contract, pricing and invoicing information on propulsion and thruster technology. Working closely with European and US suppliers and customers to improve operations and reduce cost. Communicating needs and objectives to managers with key personnel in procurement. Negotiating contracts to reduce costs and achieve maximum efficiency. Providing accurate routing information to ensure that delivery times and locations are coordinated. Accurately calculating total supply chain costs in relation to proposed new projects on Thruster and Propulsion Technology. Knowledge of coordinating all of the entities involved in a supply chain. Knowledge of managing returns and rejections professionally and promptly with suppliers. Extensive experience in the strategic planning and transportation of products. Able to negotiating rates with European contractors and also US companies. Planning of procurement, production, inventory control, logistics and distribution. Experience in Process improvement. Experience in operational logistics management and vendor management. Carrying out the initial and also ongoing assessment of the supply chain. The Person Experience of developing and implementing supply chain strategies within the space industry. Familiar with propulsion technology in particular, Hall Thruster Technology, and Electric Propulsion. Some knowledge of Chemical propulsion technology is desirable. Ability to work in small cross functional teams or on their own. Managing recognised space industry supply chains. Ability to manage several projects and tasks at once. Good at organising and managing people. A clear ability to negotiate and influence at all levels.

For one of our main customers ESAESTEC, we are currently looking for Engineering Project Support for NonMetallic Materials and Processes Tasks and Responsibilities Testing of adhesive bonding systems and processes, including adhesives applications for metals and nonmetallic materials. Selection of specific adhesives for specific end uses e.g. extreme temperature applications, integrity under thermal loads. Performing general failure analysis of materials and assemblies with emphasis on adhesion issues. Evaluation of surface treatments and its effects on bonding systems. Longterm durability of adhesive joints. Surface modification and analysis due to space environmental effects like atomic oxygen and plasma effects. Performing materials qualification programmes for nonmetallic materials and analysis. Stabilisation and degradation analysis of nonmetallic materials under space environmental conditions. Producing clear and professional reports as specified for the task. Supporting the inclusion of results in internal databases. Experience and education a PhD or Master degree in materials science, materials physicschemistry or a related field together with a good working knowledge of materials process technology and a good understanding of physics. good familiarity with advanced surface analysis techniques XPS, AFM, Raman, TOFSIMS, SEM EDXWDX, FIB a strong background on other advanced materials characterisation techniques with specific emphasis in thermal analysis techniques. experience carrying out RD studies to understand behaviour of materials under extreme environments such as space. familiarity and understanding of ESA PA requirements ECSS as well as ISO17025 requirements Experience in one or more of the following techniques is also required Thermal analysis Differential scanning calorimetry DSC, temperaturemodulated DSC, dynamic mechanical thermal testing DMTA, thermo gravimetric analysis TGA, TMA, DEA, coupled thermal analysis, LFA, DDS etc. Materials characterisation techniques Optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy SEM, atomic force microscopy AFM, IR UV spectroscopy, thermooptical characterisations as well as surface sensitive techniques like ESCA. Maintenance of the relevant test equipment. The Contractor shall ensure that the equipment under his responsibility is kept in an operational state and shall ensure that all necessary routine calibration and maintenance activities are carried out.
