For one of our main customers ESAESTEC, we are looking for Copernicus Space Segment Engineering support. You will report to the Head of the Copernicus Space Segment Office and will work in close liaison with the Sentinel project teams and the CSC Space Segment Project Control Section. The Space Segment Office acts as a single point of contact between the CSC Space Segment ESTEC and the Copernicus Space Office ESRIN for all matters related to the implementation and progress of the EUESA Copernicus Agreement. Tasks and Responsibilities You will be responsible to support the coordination of all activities within the remit of the Copernicus Space Segment Programme and in coordination with and via the GMES Space Office EOPE related to the interface with the European Commission. In particular you will be responsible for Monitoring the implementation and progress of the Sentinel projects, as compared and defined in the annual work programme Supporting the coordination of all technical, schedule and risk reporting, related to the development and procurement of the Sentinel satellites and instruments, towards the European Commission in relation to the obligations in the EUESA Copernicus Agreement and ESA member states, in liaison with the Sentinels project teams and the Copernicus project control section Developing and maintaining the reporting procedure for the Copernicus Space Segment, comprising the development and procurement programme of the Sentinel satellites and instruments Maintaining relevant databases, supporting development of specific tools and infrastructure, as necessary Maintaining the top level schedule of the Copernicus space segment programme in close liaison with the Sentinel projects Supporting the establishment of the annual work programme, the multiannual implementation plan and procurement plans, as well their updates Supporting the organization of reviews in conjunction with procurements e.g. tender evaluation review as well as programme and project reviews e.g. Qualification and Acceptance Review, Flight Acceptance Review, as necessary Supporting internal and external Copernicus space segment meetings and audits, as necessary. In addition, you will also assist the Head of the CSC Space Segment Office in the cooperation with the ESA Security Office and relevant bodies for Space Segment Security, as necessary. Experience and Education University degree in Engineering or equivalent qualification. Solid knowledge of techniques used in Earth Observation missions Solid background and experience in satellite system and subsystem technology, with strong simulation development skills. Experience relevant to the task description. Proficient in the English language Spoken and Written. SpaceX wants to start testing internet from space next year

(Telecompaper) Elon Musk's SpaceX has asked the US government for permission to start testing its internet service from space project, the Washington Post reported. The plan would see the launch of 4,000 small and cheap satellites that would beam high-speed internet signals to all parts of the globe, including its most remote regions. Musk has said the effort "would be like rebuilding the internet in space." The filing was made with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) late last month. Musk has asked for tests to begin next year and for services to start in about five years. The satellites would be deployed from one of SpaceX's rockets, the Falcon 9. Once in orbit, the satellites would connect to ground stations at three West Coast facilities. The purpose of the tests is to see whether the antenna technology used on the satellites will be able to successfully deliver high-speed internet to the ground.

J.B. Hunt plans new office space for 1,250 employees at Lowell HQ

J.B. Hunt Transport Services is expected to start construction this summer on a seven-story office tower on its corporate headquarters campus in Lowell. Details on the construction project, expected to be completed in 2017, are sketchy but the company has released the following: "The building will be approximately 150,000 square feet with capacity to accommodate 1,250 employees."

The immediate requirement is for a role on the Galileo Key Management function KMF Project. The project is starting a series of enhancements to provide the Full Operational capability for the Galileo satellite navigation programme. The Galileo KMFs manage the encryption keys used in the navigation services. The role on the KMF Project will require you to handle classified material. You should ensure that you are familiar with the appropriate procedures for handling classified material and that you follow these procedures. You should be familiar with the GMS and GCS KMF systems and understand the commitments and obligations of CGI under the contracts for their supply and upkeep.
