Airbus Defence and Space is a division of Airbus Group formed by combining the business activities of Cassidian, Astrium and Airbus Military. A vacancy for an EDRS Operations Engineering and Technical Procurement of Operations Products mf has arisen within Airbus Defence Space in MunichOttobrunn. The successful applicant will join France Satcom System Engineering. EDRS European Data Relay System is a satellite based high data rate communication system for relaying Earth Observation data received from Low Earth Orbit LEO satellites via geostationary satellites directly to the ground for further distribution. EDRS is a PPP program between ESA and Airbus. The overall system consists of the space segment and the ground segment. The first GEO satellite EDRSA will be launched first half of 2015 and the second GEO satellite is planned for third quarter 2016. Airbus Defence and Space is the prime contractor and responsible for the management and implementation of the programme and the subsequent provision of the data relay service to ESA and other customers over a period of minimum 15 years. In this role, you will support the operations engineering team on technical aspects related to the procurement of operations products. After the launch the task also includes engineering support to mission operations until final handover to the operations team. You will report to the head of the operation engineering team. Regular shift work is not required with exception for LEOP and IOT support. Please note that this is a fixedterm contract for 15 months. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Review of operations products delivered by spacecraft suppliers and acceptance of delivered products on basis of compliance to technical requirements and qualification status Supervision of ground software implementation and verification performed by payload control centre team DLR Support of operational readiness review, LEOP and IOT activities as well as user commissioning and final acceptance Technical assessment of nonconformances, discrepancies and waivers Coordination with EDRS system engineering and procurement Support of the EDRS quality management process and program management We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Educated to degree level in Aerospace Engineering or equivalent Experience with communication payloads and ESA and ESA standards Experience with databases, XML, Python, Java or equivalent as well as with Unix and Windows based operating systems Profound knowledge of space system operations Basic knowledge in flight dynamics would be an advantage Ability to steer subcontractors and to operate in a multinational team Autonomous, proactive and cooperative style of working, good communication and interpersonal skills Fluent English skills German skills would be an advantage Please apply on line for this vacancy on line at our careers site www.jobs.airbusgroup.com with your CV attached.
