House prices: 'Caution' dominates the market

Property prices are barely moving as buyers and sellers exercise caution, the UK's biggest lender says.

Surveyors say the market is "pretty much flatlining" - although parts of the UK are still seeing prices rise.

Nationwide building society said "uncertainty" would weigh on the housing market.

UK house prices picked up in April after a fall during the previous month, the Halifax says.

Property values dropped by 1.6% in March compared with February, but were 3.2% up on a year ago, a lender says.
