PSF prices could now fall to significantly lower levels in China, in line with an expected decline of material costs and also due to a slowing down demand from textile producers in the summer. Polyester prices are also depressed by the overall decline of commodity markets due to the looming trade war between the United States and China. Our weekly report covers the Polyester Staple Fiber (PSF) on the domestic markets in China, India, and Pakistan. Polyester filament prices in China are also released, whereas the report includes a price comparison of polyester with cotton and viscose in China.

Cotton yarn prices have been further raised in the last week in India as spinners were trying to limit the fall of their gross margins. Domestic cotton prices are however now falling in line with the international market. The cotton market could however be supported by a stronger demand from China, as a result of its trade war with the United States. Our review of Indian yarn prices covers the domestic and export markets, including carded and combed cotton, poly-cotton, poly-viscose, 100% polyester and 100% viscose. Yarn prices are compared with fiber prices offering latest trends of spinners' margins. Market fundamentals are available on a monthly basis, including production and exports.

Cotton yarn prices have risen in Pakistan and in India in the past seven days, whereas dropping in China. 100% polyester prices have similarly declined in China whereas being pushed to higher levels in Pakistan by a surge of PSF prices. The viscose market is clearly recovering in Chin and Pakistan, however not yet bottoming out in India. Our yarn comparison report offers a comprehensive view of 30s or 32s carded yarns in China, India and Pakistan, in local currency and US$ terms on a weekly basis over the last 12 months. 100% cotton, 100% polyester and 100% viscose are being covered with all data available for download.
