The new owner of Sikorsky Aircraft plans to stay in Stratford and keep its iconic name, officials said on Monday following the announcement of the $9 billion deal. United Technologies Corp. officially announced Monday morning that it has reached an agreement to sell Sikorsky Aircraft to Maryland-based Lockheed Martin Corp. The Connecticut Post reports Lockheed expects to save $150 million a year from the deal through a combination of possible job cuts, facility consolidation and the elimination of overlapping procurement costs.

Volkswagen AG has no plans to reduce production in China even amid slowing vehicle demand in the world's largest auto market, the company said in response to a media report. "Volkswagen does not plan production cuts in China," company spokesman Andreas Lampersbach said by e-mail after Germany's Spiegel magazine reported that the carmaker was considering reductions, including cutting annual work days at the factories to 270 from 300.

German airline Deutsche Lufthansa AG plans an overhaul of its ticketing system that will require passengers to pay extra for checked baggage, seat reservations and flight changes or cancellations, German daily newspaper Sueddeutsche Zeitung reported Saturday. Beginning in October, there will be three types of fares for economy-class passengers--light, classic and flex, according to Jens Bischof, the airline's chief commercial officer.
