According to AED Chairman Tim Watters, Sustainable Water Infrastructure Investment Act (H.R. 4237/S. 2345) will spur economic growth and job creation within construction equipment industry by generating up to $6 billion in demand and supporting nearly 1,000 employees over next decade. “The time is long overdue for substantial investment in water infrastructure projects," said Watters. The House and Senate have reached a bipartisan agreement on a water resources and development bill, the Water Resources Reform and Development Act (WRRDA), that will authorize projects to fix ailing locks and dams and improve ports and waterways. This legislation has been a priority of the agricultural community who depend upon the waterways and ports for a competitive advantage in the international marketplace.
