Galileo Ground Segment System Engineer

We currently manage the maintenance and evolution of the Galileo Ground Control Segment GCS, in charge of controlling the Galileo constellation. The scope of the project includes the control and monitoring of satellites, planning and automation functions that can perform safe and correct operations, and the support of operations related to the link platform of Telemetry Monitoring and Control stations. We are looking for a new colleague to join the Galileo GCS engineering team, dedicated to GCS design management. The main activities associated with the position are Systems design including HW, SW and virtualization architectures Evolution of the system RD Requirements management Generation and maintenance of engineering documentation Design, interfaces, plans, requirements, technical notes... Technical support for other GCS teams subcontractors, cybersecurity, integration and deployment ... Interaction with the client European Space Agency and subcontractors within Europe, including attendance at reviews, execution supervision of formal test milestones, etc. Depending on experience and capabilities, different roles and responsibilities are available. Software Product Assurance Engineer

Summary A great opportunity for an experienced Software Engineer to join the Telespazio UK team, working on site at the European Space Agency in Spain, supporting software associated with current and future astronomy missions. Objective To support activities within the area of Software Product Assurance PA and in the development of good software practices within ESA. Responsibilities Duties The successful candidate will have the opportunity to Contribute to the establishing of the programmatic and technical software PA requirements within the framework of the ESA Software policy. Evaluate Contractors plans, technical specifications and efforts proposed for the execution of the software product assurance programme. Monitor and evaluate software product analyses, reports and technical notes. Participate to project reviews, meetings, Configuration Control Boards, Nonconformance Review Boards and Software Review Boards. Prepare design tradeoffs, analyses and reports using metrics to support project decisions. Participate to software product evaluations and process assessments. Summary Brand new opportunity for an experienced Earth Observation professional to join the Telespazio UK team, working onsite at ESTEC, supporting EO Projects specifically CHIME and LSTM within end to end mission performance. Objective The work will focus on providing support to Earth Observation Projects CHIME and LSTM in the domain of Endtoend E2E Mission Performance covering mainly software aspects. The E2E performance chain comprises several components scene generator, instrument simulator, instrument data processors. The contractor will work integrated in the relevant Project Teams and will report to the System Manager. Responsibilities Duties The successful individual can expect to be involved in Operating an up to date copy of E2E software components in ESTEC to perform specific runs in order to checkrepeat verification and validation procedures provided by industries, and ensure proper methods are implemented Extending the test plan from industry to make sensitivity analyses or execute specific tests requested by Projects in order to monitor instrument performance, and to analyse impacts on the mission performance resulting from deviations during the development programme Supporting reviews of the E2E software components and participating in project meetings Supporting Test Data production and verification Supporting the analysis of the data collected during onground and inorbit calibration and characterisation campaigns Developing any required software tools to support all the mentioned activities Providing necessary inputs for the relevant internal and external meetings Detecting SW anomalies to be reported to SW developer for analysis Ensuring that the E2E Mission Performance Simulator chain and its components and algorithms meet the required functionality and performance, taking into account system, instrument, geophysical model and calibrationvalidation facility aspects Qualifications Experience University Masters degree or equivalent in Physics, engineering or a related discipline. Essential Skills Firsthand experience and proficiency in the development of numerical modelling software preferably using compiled languages CCJava, development environments and using the Unix operating system. Familiarity with highperformance computing environment such as GPU and cloud processing Good familiarity with co mputer programs such as Matlab, Python or IDL. Knowledge of specific tools such as image analysis tools. Background knowledge of the problematics involved in Earth Observation modelling. Essential Skills General experience with the design, analysis, qualification, testing and implementation of satellite payload equipment for telecommunication satellites Experience within one, or more, of the following areas Management of development contracts for satellite payload equipment. Design, development andor exploitation of antenna, digital or RF units, including low noise amplifiers, channel amplifiers and linearisers, power amplifiers, frequency converters, digital signal processors Knowledge of multiple different types of payload equipment and their functions at payload level Wider knowledge of the ARTES programme and Satcom market Strong understanding of active antenna operating prinicples, as well as implementation options and challenges.
