Design Engineer for FPGA Key Tasks and Responsibilities Our customer is a European leader in exciting and technologically sophisticated projects in the areas of space transportation and satellites. Your tasks will include Design, coding and simulation of algorithms and functions using VHDL VHDL coding and simulation by using MENTOR Graphics toolset Implementation of data streaming logic on FPGAs ASICs in VHDL Design of selfchecking VHDL based test benches for functional and timing verification Translation of C based algorithms into VHDL code for visual navigation applications Cto FPGA Establishment of design and test documentation Design and development of microprocessor based single board computer boards. Software configuration management Implementation and documentation of test software in ANSI C C Engineering tasks with respect to ISS electronics Specification of subsystems boardlevel and FPGA functional specification MAIT support through project lifecycle Development and execution of test procedures Conduction of test campaigns and establishment of posttest documentation Evaluation of test results Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree in computer science, communications engineering or other relevant discipline Several years experience in technical design Fluency in English is mandatory, knowledge of another European language is an advantage. JOB DESCRIPTION EPSSG System Design Engineer Responsibilities Duties Tasks The activities for this consultancy will focus on the establishing and maintaining system design justifications, system design, tradeoffs, and system budgets. The activity requires one key person for the duration of the consultancy contract. Specific separate Instrument Functional Chain Teams IFCT are being established to ensure that each instrument chain is addressed in an endtoend fashion for Radiometric, Spectral and Geolocation aspects. The primary focus of this key person will be on system aspects not covered by the IFCT however participation in and support to the IFCTs is foreseen. The tasks and responsibilities of the key person to be undertaken during the EPSSG Phase B will typically include the following Analysis and justification of the system design. Provide input to the system design justification document, especially concerning end to end performance aspects. Identify all system areas that require a budget to be maintained. Perform an apportionment between Space and Ground segments and any other element involved Control and document all technical budgets in accordance with ECSS standards Monitor lower level technical specifications and budgets for compliance to system apportionment. Provide support to the IFCT and when needed ensure IFCT results are documented in a systematic manner. Provide support to general system engineering activities Preparation and maintenance of system technical specification ad hoc internal reviews system level formal reviews SRR, PDR Provide support to progress meetings Support IVV activities These activities will involve interactions with other EUMETSAT divisions. Travel within Europe, to the United States and possibly other parts of the world may have to be undertaken for certain tasks. Qualifications University degree in the domain of engineering, science, or equivalent. Required knowledge At least 5 years of experience in the field of engineering of space andor ground system. Experience of large space systems space andor ground segment. Demonstrated capability to clearly document a system design and justification Demonstrated ability to analyse system level requirements and apportion to lower level elements. Experience of establishing and maintaining end to end budgets. Desirable Knowledge The following experience would be additional assets Experience in the area of LowEarth Orbiting satellites LEO. The successful candidate should have experience of large space systems space andor ground segment and a demonstrated capability to clearly document a system design and justification along with a demonstrated ability to analyse system level requirements and apportion to lower level elements. Additional assets would be experience in the area of LowEarth Orbiting satellites LEO, DOORs and RAMS Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety. All candidates must have a University or similar degree in the domain of engineering, science, or equivalent and be fluent in English, both spoken and written.
