Ground Systems Integration and Testing Engineer 1723024 Job Description We are looking for an End to End Ground Systems Integration and Testing Engineerto support our client ESA at their Operations Centre in Darmstadt. You will be providing consultancy support in the End to End Ground Segment Reference Facility E2EGSRF which is a unique facility providing a representative, reference E2E ground segment and simulated space segment. The integration and testing of ground segment elements e.g. MC systems, ground station components etc., throughout the systems engineering lifecycle, from supplier to enduser, takes place in the E2EGSRF. Also critical mission tests, e.g. RF compatibility tests between sc and ground stations, are performed from E2EGSRF. In addition the E2EGSRF is an environment where integration and testing of ground segment components, standards and technologies takes place at any maturity stage, allowing assessment, confidence building and risk reduction for target customer missions. The E2EGSRF is also intended as a platform for Independent Verification and Validation, both at ground segment subsystem and system level, if required. For the last 2 years, the Engineering Development Laboratory project EDLab has been carried out in ESOC with the main aim of enhancing the exploitation of the E2EGSRF as a representative environment where Ground Segment components can be deployed and tested, both at subsystem level and integrated configurations involving different subsystem components, up to a complete E2E Ground Segment. You shall support the EDLab project by providing integration and test services for ground systems in the End to End Ground Segment Reference Facility. The main tasks to be accomplished are Test Environment Definition of test environment and test data Support to the definition and deployment of the different test assemblies and configuration Support the investigation of test failures Troubleshooting of identified problems Verification of problem resolution after correction patch, upgrade Ground Systems Support the deployment of newpatched systems Support the coherent configuration of the different systems Support industry and internal customers Provision of operational and technical expertise Tools Usage of the SDE to record test plans and reports Usage of Sharepoint to keep configuration control of the EDLab documentation Test plan Complement, update, adapt existing generic mission representative test cases Design and document new test cases Execution of tests Support test automation Documentation Provision of test plans, test reports Maintenance of the test plan Issue SPRs and support Software Review Board meetings Maintain and update databases Provide regular activity reports Required Skills and Experience Ability to understand and accurately predict behaviour of Ground Segment systems Fluency in English Wellorganised, able to prioritise and manage several activities in parallel Familiarity with the relevant ground segment systems and associated test environment Familiarity with the relevant programmingscripting languages e.g. C, Java, Python Desirable Skills and Experience Experience in working in an operational environment Familiarity with the ESOC working environment and Quality Management System QMS Knowledge of ground engineering and operations Work Location Darmstadt, Germany Dates Application Deadline 22 February 2017 Start of Work 01.04.2017 Important Notes Before applying to this position, please read the page Notes to Applicants on the Solenix website under Career. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory University degree or equivalent, including experience in the engineering, physics, or software or similar domains Relevant experience in preparation of requirements, design, interfaces and testing documentation for data processing systems considering the systems engineering aspects of data processing management and data provision experience of data processing for high data rate missions andor Earth Observation missions is an asset but is not mandatory Relevant experience in monitoring and implementation of designs against requirement baselines and IVV, including testing and formal acceptance The ability to maintain a system overview is essential. This ability shall be exercised within a multidisciplinary context in cooperation with other teams, covering several different data processing levels and instruments Ability to learn and develop the needed skills and knowledge to contribute to the development of MTG. This includes the ability to rapidly absorb, and make use of, information presented in written and oral communications in a dynamic context Systematic approach to work, including the ability to plan the work and to cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks Ability to write accurate and consistent technical documentation. The following skills would be highly desirable Relevant experience with Level 1 or Level 2 processing software for Earth Observation missions, either for operations and maintenance or specification and development Knowledge of the IBM DOORS tool or an equivalent for requirements management Knowledge of task relevant ECSS and CCSDS standards.
