Summary A Data Scientist is required to join Telespazio UKs Artificial Intelligence AI team developing machine and deep learning activities within the Geo Information GI group using satellite data. Telespazio UK is part of a company containing over 2500 people working in the growing field of Space Systems and operations and GeoInformation. Telespazio is majority owned by Leonardo, one of the UKs largest defence, aerospace and security companies. We have a hybrid working environment across most roles in our UK office, and support flexible working for our teams wherever possible. Objective Working with the Lead Data Scientist you will develop new products and applications that use statistics, analytics, machine learning, forecasting and optimization to enhance their efficiency and performance. Telespazio UK is investing heavily in relevant technology, and offers the opportunity to be involved in exciting project work within the space sector with scope for further progression and upskilling. Responsibilities Duties Developing satellite SARbased services andor technologies based upon user requirements Working with customer requirements to establish GeoInformation products and services specification and needs Developing prototype and proof of concept systems to demonstrate business need Continuous improvements to automated data handling tools Supporting technical contributions to bid writing Qualifications Experience University Masters degree in mathematics, computer science, electrical engineering or equivalent, or highly specific Bachelors degree in Data ScienceEngineering Strong computer literacy skills, including software engineering, software development programming experience with modern programming languages such as Python Experience with machine and deep learning, particularly the development and optimisation of neural networks Essential Skills Inventiveness and problem solving skills Ability to transform a technical concept and mathematic model into efficient software implementation Experience of using statistical or data analytics techniques Software engineering and software development in Linux and or crossplatform Interest in, and enthusiasm for, climate, environment or Earth observation science Desirable Skills Experience of deploying machine learning applications to local and cloud infrastructures Experience in applying data science techniques to SAR data Experience in applying data science techniques to spatial, andor Earth observation datasets Understanding of sound data management and adhering to corporate standards Cloud and edgecomputing application development Qualities Desire to be a team player capable of working with staff at all levels, alongside the ability to work independently Selfstarter and effective time management, with particular skills in multitasking Good communication skills, both written and oral Commercial awareness
