On March 2–3, LIA’s 8th annual Laser Additive Manufacturing Workshop welcomed over 170 attendees from 14 countries. Participants discussed latest developments in 3D printing, cladding, and other additive manufacturing methods. LAM General Chair Paul Denney, along with co-chairs Ingomar Kelbassa and Jim Sears, designed the 2-day event – featuring keynote addresses, educational sessions, and numerous exhibits – to showcase the way companies are utilizing additive manufacturing.

Attendees learned details of applying for DOC/NIST competition, which will support establishment and operation of up to 2 Manufacturing Innovation Institutes. Competition is open to any topic, proposed by industry, that is not being addressed by another institute or funding opportunity in progress in National Network for Manufacturing Innovation (NNMI) Program.
