Mobile network operator Vodafone and cable and broadband provider Liberty Global are to merge their Dutch operations to create a 50-50 joint venture in the Netherlands. The venture will bring together Liberty's Dutch operation Ziggo - a provider of fibre-based broadband , TV and landline services - with Vodafone's mobile network to create a quad-play operator with combined annual revenues of around a 4.4bn , based on results to the end of 2015.

(Telecompaper) Indian mobile operator Bharti Airtel is in talks to merge its Sri Lanka unit into Dialog Axiata. The transactions involves a share-swap deal, ET reports, citing two unnamed people familiar with the matter. A potential Airtel Lanka-Dialog Axiata merger will be similar to the recent merger of Bharti Airtel and Axiata's telecom units in Bangladesh. Axiata will be the dominant shareholder and Airtel a strategic minority holder in the combined entity, the same sources added.

(Telecompaper) Axiata Group and Bharti Airtel have signed a definitive agreement to merge their Bangladesh units, namely Robi Axiata and Airtel Bangladesh. Following the completion of the merger, the combined entity operating as Robi will serve nearly 40 million customers. Upon completion, Axiata will hold a 68.3 percent controlling stake in the combined entity, while Airtel will own a 25 percent. The remaining 6.7 percent stake will be held by the existing shareholder NTT Docomo of Japan.
