In anticipation of a project award Serco are currently looking for a Payload Data Ground Segment Design and Implementation Support at EUMETSAT, Darmstadt, Germany. Package description Highly competitive salary Corporate Benefits Package Relocation Assistance if applicable Further information available from the Serco Europe Recruitment Team Main responsibilities This activity is intended to support the whole Payload Data Ground Segment implementation cycle, covering the system requirements definition phase the architectural design and elements requirements definition phase the implementation plan definition phase the Elements Industrial Procurement phase the PDGS Integration and Validation testing phase the System Validation Phase the Commissioning phase Tasks Activities The following tasks shall be performed by the Engineer Support the preparation of the PDGS Mission Implementation Plan Contribute to the PDGS design phase through the generation of the PDGS Design Documents PDGS System Requirements Document, PDGS System Architecture Document, PDGS Operations Concept Document, Interface Requirements Documents, SubSystems High Level Requirements Support to the preparation of the PDGS SubSystems implementation documentation Coordination of the acceptance by the PDGS Project of any Customer Furnished Items CFIs Coordination of the acceptance by the PDGS Project of the PDGS SubSystems Generation of technical notes whenever needed during the Project lifetime Participation to Ground Segment Reviews Support the PDGS Project Manager in evaluating the results of the PDGS Integration and Validation testing activity Support the PDGS Project Manager in the participation to the System Verification tests Ideal candidate The ideal candidate should bring the following skills and experience University degree or equivalent qualification, preferably in Remote Sensing and Earth Observation Project management experience, preferably in the field of Earth Observation Ground Segment Development Knowledge of the Earth Observation missions and instruments and processes related to their PDGS development would be an asset. Knowledge of relevant Engineering standards , e.g. ECSS Experience with requirements Management tools e.g. Rational DOORs or similar Knowledge of relevant Engineering standards Ability to write technical documents and converse in English Good communication skills and ability to work in international teams Important Any offer of employment is contingent upon you providing documents to verify your identity and employment eligibility, as required by law. Main responsibilities As support to the MME upgrade team, you will work on the ground segment requirements analysis, services definitions, architectural design, requirements implementation and verification of the MME parts of future Ground Segments. Your tasks will include Requirements analysis of programme requirements not related to the Ground Segments ITT requirements against the MMEs Generation of services definitions, compliance matrices, design justification, verification plans test cases and procedures and verification control documents Support to Analysis and evolution of current System Design to enhance the Data Access Services so as to meet programmes requirements Definition and maintenance of MME Data Access Services related Interface Control Documents ICDs Preparation of test specifications for Verifying MME Data Access services Support to Ground Segment reviews excluding access to financial data and schedule margins Support to Ground Segment Integration, Verification and Validation IVV tests for the MME Data Access services. Ideal candidate Essentials In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, you should have a minimum of five years working experience in the analysis of user requirements, software requirements, scalable software architectures, software development, testing, operations and maintenance of Data Access systems. In addition, knowledge and experience of the following is mandatory Engineering lifecycle aspect e.g. requirements definition, design, development, integration, verification and validation Service based approach for defining system specifications Tool based requirements management e.g. IBM DOORs Definition and formalization of interfaces between complex systems Portal technologies, web application server and web security concepts Hierarchical Storage Management Systems and Architectures i.e. SAMFS QFS Storage Concepts and Archiving Technologies NAS, SAN, Robotic Tape Libraries Formalised Software Testing Configuration Control Database Experience Schema design. The variety of the tasks and the scope of the systems to be supported require a high degree of autonomy and good analytical skills. The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore you must be able to work effectively in this language and have knowledge of the other. Desirables Practical knowledge of as many as possible of the following will be an advantage OGC Interoperability Standards such as CSW, WMS, WCS, WFS XML, XML Schema and XSLT technologies Distributed applications, TCPIP and Web services CCSDS standards for data format representation Tool based Software Architecture and Design e.g. Enterprise Architect, UML 2.0 SysML Testing frameworks e.g. JUnit, JMeter.
