Congress Rolls Back Federal Trucking Rule

At Teal's Express in Marcy today, Congressman Richard Hanna announced that the rule - which cost the trucking industry an estimated $400 million in just the last year - will no longer be enforced. The rule mandated that drivers couldn't drive overnight and had to wait 34 hours between driving shifts, including waiting until 5 a.m. to hit the road, rules that Brian Brundige of Terpening Trucking says was handcuffing truckers.

IPC Issues Comments on EPS's unofficial 2014 DSW Rule.

After U.S. EPA's unofficial release of its final version of 2011 proposed revisions to Definition of Solid Waste (DSW) rule, IPC claimed final rule fails to provide adequate regulatory relief for manufacturers wishing to recycle secondary materials. IPC's Fern Abrams said IPC was "disappointed" over insufficient secondary materials recycling promotion incentives and also cited lingering "onerous and unnecessary" requirements. Since 2007, IPC advocated for DSW rule.

Trucking industry awakes to less-restrictive restart rule

The trucking industry awoke Wednesday morning with - temporarily at least - a much less restrictive 34-hour restart rule in place. President Barack Obama late Tuesday night signed the $1.1 trillion spending bill that included language that forbids the use of federal dollars to enforce the rule that went into effect July 1, 2013.
