OPTICAL INSTRUMENT TECHNICAL LEAD ENGINEER mf

You will join the System Studies Advanced Projects department, managing several design contracts simultaneously for a duration of 6 months to 1 and a half years. Each study is carried out with a team of 3 to 5 people. Depending on your experience, you will be responsible for one or two studies.Typically, a preproject study involves the following activities Starting from preliminary specifications of the mission, definition of instrument concepts to meet needs. For each concept, sizing and making a first order definition of the different subassemblies type of optical combination, choice of detectors, mechanical and electrical architecture, establishing performance reviews MTF, SB report, etc., Comparing different concepts and choosing a concept, integrating feasibility, performance and development criteria duration, risk, cost, Interfacing with the customer and if necessary with the science team on the specifications of the mission, More detailed studies and analysis on the critical points of a concept optical combination, alignment tolerances, thermoelastic stability, electronic functions, etc. with the support of different specialists from the instrument division, Detailed performance reviews, and interface reviews dimensions, mass, power, data rates, implementation of deliverable performance models if necessary, Production of a development plan and estimation of costs, definition of the development process, test plan, and test resources necessary, Writing of preliminary specifications for certain componentsequipment and consultation with suppliers, identification of European organisations who may intervene in the project according to their experience and knowhow, Writing of designstudy reports in French or in English, oral presentations in front of the customer, Response to calls for tender Proposals for modelling or RD activities, Publications, participation in conferences. This position will require occasional travel for business once a month in Europe, and, as such, you must be able to travel accordingly.As the successful candidate you will be able to demonstrate some of the following skills and experience. Qualified engineer or university equivalent or ideally a PhD in astrophysics, 5 years of experience in optical instruments, Ideally a good knowledge of scientific observation missions, Expertise in the field of optic and detection visible detection andor infrared optics, Knowledge and use software for design and analysis of optical performance preferably CODEV and ASAP would be highly appreciated, Ideally, excellent knowledge of optical instrument development costs, Creativity, Excellent interpersonal skills, A taste for innovation, Advanced level of English and French.Please apply online. Lead Onboard Validation Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities Our customer is an independent Danish company recognized in satellite test systems, software, independent software verification and validation activities, onsite engineering support and power electronics. Their software systems have been utilized for onboard, checkout, ground station, simulation and in many other critical space related domains Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience Experience in onboard validation engineering in space industry Substantial practical and handson experience in onboard software validation, in particular related to satellite onboard data handling, onboard computer, andor onboard payload data processing subsystems and AOCS Theoretical background and knowledge of software development and validation methods Familiar with space standards applicable to satellite software design such as relevant ECSS and CCSDS standards, in particular CCSDS standard TMTC control, PUS, etc. Relevant software development environments and tools e.g. Eclipse based and spacecraft control and data buses SpaceWire, MilBus1553, etc., Familiar with numerical software validation facilities and realtime spacecraft simulators Fluency in English is mandatory, French knowledge is an asset. A vacancy for a Telecom Ground Segment Technical Lead Engineer mf has arisen within Airbus Defence Space in Toulouse. You will be a member of the Ground Segment GS team of the Telecom satellite directorate in Toulouse. This team is in charge of Defining and developing GS products in line with the telecom satellite platform and payload roadmaps and telecom system needs Participating in the GS Telecom Satellite Calls for Tenders ITT, proposals and costing including workshare agreements with subcontractors andor coprimes Delivering GS to external customers from specification definition up to maintenance phases Managing RF ground stations providers for the Low Earth Orbit Phase LEOP, InOrbit Tests IOT and InOrbit Support IOS Participating in operations during LEOP and IOT. Within this group, you will be in charge of defining GS products in line with satellite TTC and payload roadmaps e.g. complex payload system operations and complying with ITT requirements for Telecom systems proposals e.g. Very High Throughput systems. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Defining ground components for payload management and mission optimisation Interacting with the satellite and telecom system team to capture and anticipate the ground product trends and needs in order to accompany present and future payload developments Following up product development whether it is internal and external procurement and integration into the ground segment Cooperating with ITT on the ground segment. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and expertise Engineering degree or equivalent, 5 years of experience in satellite telecom system engineering including communication payload engineering, telecom link budget analysis, communication traffic management at the NOCMission Control Centre, satellite payload management, ground terminal design and operation VSAT andor large teleports, including antenna, RF chain, baseband and IP layer. Good knowledge of RF, spectrum resource allocations, traffic analysis, digital communications, payload engineering and air interface communications standards such as DVBS2 and DVBRCS, as well as digital modulation schemes andor techniques, Ideally Practical experience in commissioning and testing satellite systems satellite and ground based, Experience working in a satellite communication operations environment NOCGateways, Software engineering knowledge e.g. JAVA, Confidence while working directly with potential customers and subcontractors at a technical level, Ability to work autonomously and effectively, cocoordinating tasks and responsibilities, Negotiation level of English and intermediate level of French. One of our space clients in the UK is looking for a Software and Subsystem Lead Engineer for Ground segments. The role is a permanent position and is based in the UK. Key Purpose Development of Ground SegmentSoftware solutions for Satellite Systems. Key Tasks Working with System Engineer and other Project team members to capture Requirements. Design of Ground Segment solutions. Tracking progress of Software items through projects. Development of Verification Test plans. Liaising with Customer and Suppliers. Working with inhouse SW teams. Configuration of test environment and possible development of test programs. Commissioning of installed Ground Segments. Delivering customer training. Identifying and managing procurement of hardware and software. Producingupdating Ground Segment documentation. Qualifications Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Computing or similar subject. Experience Experience of working in EngineeringAerospace environment. Proven experience working in Software Development. Experience of Internet based distributed systems. Knowledge Skills Good Team working skills. Excellent verbal written communication skills. Flexible and able to work under pressure. Able to plan and manage work packages. Requirements capture.
