Dr. Reddy's Laboratories relaunched its popular heartburn remedy in a new color Wednesday after a court agreed with AstraZeneca PLC's objections to the old one. The Hyderabad-based company, India's second-largest drugmaker by sales, changed the color of the casing of its generic version of AstraZeneca's Nexium from two-tone purple to two-tone blue--a light cap and a darker body.

India's Dr Reddy's gets FDA warning letter for three drug plants

MUMBAI: Dr Reddy's Laboratories Ltd, India's second-largest drugmaker by sales, received a warning letter from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration over inadequate quality control procedures at three manufacturing plants in India. Dr Reddy's shares fell as much as 12 percent in early trade to their lowest level since July 30. The warning letter was issued by the FDA to Dr Reddy's on Thursday for its Srikakulam, Miryalaguda and Duvvada drug manufacturing plants - all based in southern India.

The company has entered into a definitive agreement with UCB which also entails absorbing 350 employees engaged in the operations of India business, Dr Reddy's Laboratories said in a filing to the BSE. "The revenues of the acquired business is approximately Rs 150 crore for the calendar year 2014," it added.

Indian drugmaker Dr Reddy's Laboratories Ltd said on Friday it has received final approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to make a cheaper version of Roche Holding AG's antiviral Valcyte, sending its stock to a record high. The move comes after Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd said on Thursday that FDA had stripped the company of its tentative approval to launch the first copy of the drug due to quality control issues at its manufacturing plants.
