A vacancy has arisen for a versatile experienced IT engineer for the Galileo Ground Control Segment GCS programme. GCS is a high profile project directed design, procuring, deploying and verifiying the flight operations system for the Galileo constellation of satellites. The role takes part of the GCS segment team which is responsible for the design of the system. The successful candidate will undertake a range of design and prototyping activities related to system evolution and maintenance.The role involves system and detailed software design with a deployment to site and system verification activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in Satellite Ground Systems engineering although equivalent experience on a mission critical software project would be acceptable. They will need to demonstrate an overall excellent technical ability. Specific disciplines Specification, design and development of mission critical software systems System engineering e.g. requirements definition and requirements management, system architecture and interface design and specification, performancebudget management and segment modelling, technical support to RAMS, PA, ILS, etc Software development experience is highly desirable although not mandatory A strong understanding of linux, VMWare and networks is required Generic skills Engineering experience within a multidisciplinary team Project control processes and procedures Selfmotivated and with good communication skills.
