(Telecompaper) AT&T is putting the pieces in motion to bring 5G service to tens of millions of consumers and businesses in 2019, ahead of plans to offer nationwide 5G in the first half of 2020. Following its recent launch of AT&T Unlimited Extra and AT&T Unlimited Elite, it's adding access to 5G service in these plans and will begin pre-orders for its first low-band 5G smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Note10+ 5G, on 25 November.
Telefonica and AT&T sign Mexico mobile access deal

(Telecompaper) Telefonica Mexico has announced an agreement to access AT&T's mobile infrastructure in Mexico with a view to improving the efficiency and quality of its network in the country on a long-term basis. The deal means Telefonica can immediately use AT&T's last-mile wireless equipment to gain capacity on AT&T's 3G and 4G network and any future access network technologies nationwide. Telefonica said it would maintain its transport network and all of its platforms, without operational or geographical restrictions, to meet the needs of Movistar users in the country.

The company claims the link between Dallas and Atlanta is a first in the industry, with the network built on white box hardware. The US operator plans to roll out 400G across its network next year to support the growing traffic demand from customers and its 5G network

AT&T to refund customers USD 60 mln after misleading on 'unlimited' data

(Telecompaper) AT&T has agreed to pay USD 60 million to the Federal Trade Commission to settle allegations the mobile operator misled customers over its practice of throttling speeds on unlimited data plans. This settles a case filed five years ago by the FTC against the company and will see the settlement paid out to the affected customers.
