Summary Brand new opportunity for an experienced EO engineer to join the Telespazio UK team, working onsite at ESTEC, to support future missions planning. Objective The post will provide support within the Future Missions and Instruments Division EOP8M, and more specifically the Technology Coordination and Frequency Management Section EOP8MT. The contractor will be responsible for two main tasks First, the identification of technology requirements for future Earth Observation EO missions. A solid collaboration with the other sections of the division and with other divisions in the EOP directorate and ESAs technical directorate is essential for this work. The nature of the work requires a wide knowledge in engineering disciplines with a natural inclination for learning and understanding new technologies in connection to EO space systems. Second, the analysis and monitoring of the evolution of frequency needs for EO missions, including early concepts and potential interference conflicts with other communication services sharing the spectrum. Responsibilities Duties The successful individual will be expected to Support the identification of the technology requirements for future Earth Observation EO missions, covering the whole spectrum mainly platform and ground stations network, but also support to optical and RF instruments Provide support to technology developments for future EO missions, in particular for the standardisation of platforms, and communications with the ground segment Initiate, conduct internal studies and support the review of the results of industrial activities and in the area of technology development and modelling of endtoend system e.g. data flow, technical budgets or onboard subsystem aspects. Support the definition and monitoring of missions under preparation through, e.g. participation to reviews, assessment of industrial results, evaluation of proposals in reply to calls, including subsystem performance analyses or technology maturity aspects. Support the EO technology observatory function outside the EOP Directorate e.g. ESA Technology Harmonisation, ARTES, and also outside ESA e.g. other space agencies, Horizon Europe in the EC, commercial initiatives under NewSpace, and the potential spinin from nonspace sectors Support the interaction within ESA and also with ESAs Member States on EO future technologies e.g. through dedicated information days Building up relevant IT repositories with information about technology developments or new mission concepts of relevance to Earth Observation Qualifications Experience University Masters degree, or equivalent, in Engineering, or related discipline. Experience within space projects, and associated technology developments. Essential Skills Development of advanced onboard system and subtechnologies for space applications, ideally in the EO domain Experience working in Space Projects for Earth Observation. Experience with System Performance Simulation and EndtoEnd Satellite Data Flow, including data processing Good knowledge of remote sensing techniques used in Earth Observation missions Experience in Matlab, STK or similar tools Proactive in organising and building up electronic means to share the technology knowledge with larger groups. Qualities Teamwork orientation Methodical, and proactive, attitude to solving problems Good English language skills, both written and spoken Good organisational, and communication skills.

We are looking to further enhance our team by Configuration Management Tool Service Support You will be based initially for 2 years at our clients headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany. Extension of a further 2 years may be possible. This position is parttime approx. 170 working days per annum, 120 days are at our clients premises. In this large European Agency you will find an excellent and modern working environment with challenging tasks and responsibilities. Your Tasks Include The service support activities include the planning, development and installation of Configuration Management database systems and tools to address our Clients Configuration Management needs via individual service requests. These service requests are issued in the form of Work Packages with a maximum effort allocation and cover activities which can be any of the following Evolutive and corrective maintenance of the existing Client CM tool instances managing Changes and Configuration Items related to Programmes and Projects being developed, and to Client Operational systems feasibility studies, user software requirements, development, documentation, unit and verification testing, deployment on test and operational environments Creation, modification, update and version tracking of following Configuration Items o Documentation management and technical documents, including SpacecraftGround Segment operational procedures, manuals and guides o HW items computers, infrastructure, Comms equipments o SW items including SW applications, COTS and associated Licences, ...keeping up to date the mapping between SW and HW items. Review and proposal of improvements to existing applicable Client Configuration Management processes and working practices More generally o Planning and preparation of above mentioned new CM tool instances releases. o Monitoring and tuning of the tools performances, and impact assessment on existing Client CM implementation. o On a case by case basis, second level support to CM stakeholders support team, user representatives,.... Your Profile The Service Support Personnel shall have a University degree in Computer Science, or an equivalent technical field. The minimum level is a Master. More specifically, sound practical experience of the following is mandatory Specification, implementation and validation of BusinessManagement Processes electronic workflow applied to large softwareintensive high availability operational systems, ideally in the field of Configuration Management Minimum 3 years. Administration of the Serena Dimensions CM tool installation from scratch, release and patch upgrade, endtoend process model implementation and verification, monitoring Minimum 2 years. Sound practical experience with an equivalent Configuration Management tool can be considered, providing the candidate starts his service with an extensive training on Serena Dimensions CM Administration. Software development with an object oriented programming language such as Java, C or vb.net. Minimum 2 years. Software development environment such as Visual Studio Minimum 2 years. SQL programming on Oracle or Sybase databases Minimum 1 year Basic practical experience of the following is mandatory as well. Database administration Practical experience with the following will be considered as assets Source code control tools such as CVS or SubVersion. System administration preferably on UNIX. Configuration Management standards such as CMMI, ISO or ESA ECSS. In addition, the Service Support Personnel shall have demonstrated very good communication and team working skills. be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, in particular when applying and supporting Client Configuration Management processes and working practices. have demonstrated very good skills in documenting all his artefacts. be able to work calmly under stress with the minimum of supervision. The official languages are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore the Service Support Personnel must be able to work effectively in this language and have basic knowledge of the other, together with good communication skills.
