(Telecompaper) Jeroen Hoencamp, CEO of VodafoneZiggo, had called for a nation digitalisation summit, less regulation and the complete release of the 3.5 GHz band for 5G networks in the Netherlands. At a debate organised by VodafoneZiggo with politicians and industry leaders, the CEO said the country may be a leader in connectivity, but the government needs to work harder at creating the right environment for long-term investment in digital infrastructure or the country will fall behind.

(Telecompaper) Telecom Italia (TIM) is preparing to lead Italy's digital revolution in close collaboration with other companies, said the company's CEO Amos Genish at an event in Turin. Revealing that TIM will unveil a new three-year business plan to position the group as a "pure digital player and not a telecoms operator" in February or March 2018, Genish said TIM is in the best position in Italy to lead the next wave of digital transformation in view of its existing EUR 4 billion investment and a determination to focus on future-proof technology rather than legacy networks.
Altice names new CEO in Portugal, Goya to replace Neves as chairperson

(Telecompaper) Alexandre Fonseca is the new CEO of Portugal Telecom and, with immediate effect, now leads Altice's telecommunications company in Portugal. He replaces Claudia Goya, who was named CEO only a few months ago but now becomes chairwoman of PT Portugal. Paulo Neves, the former CEO who became chairman in July, is leaving the group.
