Group proposes moratorium on drilling in Allegheny County parks

An opposition group is introducing a proposed ordinance that would put a temporary hold on further natural gas development in Allegheny County parks. Under the ordinance, which is being proposed by the group Protect Our Parks, the county would have to wait two years before it could lease any more land in the county-owned parks.

Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co. Securities Inc. wrote in its morning report that it's positive that Weatherford was able to jettison non-core businesses despite energy market turmoil, including sliding oil prices, helping it surpass its $7 billion to $7.5 billion net debt target by the end of this year.

Range Resources sued over Pennsylvania drilling

A couple who say their water was contaminated by natural gas drilling and leaks from a drilling wastewater pond near their property have sued oil and gas company Range Resources. The lawsuit by Christopher and Janet Lauff, of McDonald, contends they had to forgo well water and connect to a public water line, for which they've not been compensated by Range Resources Corp. The Fort Worth, Texas-based drilling firm was still evaluating the lawsuit but had "not seen any evidence of health or environmental impacts," its spokesman Matt Pitzarella said.

Vancouver Sun: Kinder Morgan has stopped drilling on Burnaby Mountain and began moving out its equipment Friday, according to a company spokeswoman. An application by Kinder Morgan to extend an injunction keeping protesters away from two drilling sites for its proposed oil pipeline was rejected by a B.C. Supreme Court judge on Thursday.
