For our activities in EUMETSAT, we are currently seeking a Ground Station Engineer to provide Engineering support to the EPSSG Ground Segment Technical Manager, in the EPSSG Preparatory Programme Phase B You will be support the EPSSG GS requirements analysis, architecture design and requirement implementation of the GS ground stations as part of the EPSSG System. The duties range from the analysis, design, installation, and testing of the ground stations. This may include support to the procurement of hardware and software, and the coordination with external service providers. In particular during the initial phase the tasks will include Support to the generation of ground stations related EPSSG concepts, requirements and design documentation at the Architectural Design Level Identifying and translating the relevant EPSSG usersystemground segment level requirements into specific ground stations system requirements Provide support covering all aspects of the EPSSG ground stations specification and design Provide support covering the link budgets of the EPSSG programme Contribute to the definition of the ground segment data flows regarding the interfaces between the ground stations and the rest of the EPSSG ground segment andor satellites from a system engineering point of view Contribute to the preparation of the EPSSG Validation and Verification VV activities in the area of ground stations and the generation of the initial Acceptance Plan. In the performance of the above tasks you will apply all the relevant system engineering standards, quality management procedures and maintenance procedures. You are expected to write and review requirement specifications and change proposals, prepare procurements, participate in technical inspections and reviews, document the communication and network architecture system design and write evaluation reports, review reports, test reports and overall status reports. Qualifications and Requirements Applicants require a university degree, or equivalent, in an engineering discipline relevant to the job profile together with sufficient experience and capability to fulfill the assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision. You shall have, as a prerequisite, a minimum of 3 years experience in a similar function. Knowledge and experience with the following is mandatory System Engineering practices and experience of requirements engineering Phase B of large and complex LEO ground stations Ground stations system and subsystem design for TTC, mission specific and satellite communications ground stations e.g. Cortex TTC subsystem Technical background in the specification and VV of large antennas and tracking systems ACU and receivers inclusive TTC baseband equipment including ranging systems and SLE compliant implementations Specification and implementation of Mission Data Acquisition baseband equipment Local and Remote MC system for ground stations System experience with Link budget analysis and tools in S, X and Ka Band Knowledge and experience with the following is considered an advantage CGMS Global Specifications for Direct Broadcast services Knowledge of ECSS Standards, and in particular ECSS Engineering Standards in the area of RF and modulation standards Knowledge of CCSDS Recommendations, in particular in the area of RF and modulation standards as well as Space Link Extensions related recommendation Knowledge of services providers in the area of Ground Stations Specification and system performances of In Orbit Test systems in support of Satellite In Orbit Verification SIOV activities RF related for Earth Observation satellites preferably LEO systems LEO ground stations maintenance requirements and constraints Industry best practices on maintenance policies and procedures for ground stations supporting operational programmes 247. Knowledge and experience with the following is considered beneficial Experience in use of requirements management and traceability tools e.g. DOORS Experience in the use of modelling and design tools in support of architectural design activities e.g. CORE Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite, including MSVisio The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. The Mission Our customer, ESAESOC builds, operates and maintains satellite ground stations, which belong to its ESTRACK network for spacecraft operations, at various sites around the world. Sites typically include the following infrastructure Buildings operations, power plant, antenna tower, storage Auxiliary installations access control system, CCTV, fire detection, water distribution and other site installations Grounding and lightning systems Lighting systems Building monitoring systems Firefighting systems. ESA requires engineers to define the specifications for the infrastructure, assist procurement, and to review, supervise, monitor, control and validate all related activities. The Challenge We are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to provide support to ESAESOC in the following aspects of site infrastructure engineering Antenna Site Infrastructure Systems Power Systems Cooling Systems Buildings and Civil Infrastructure. The tasks of the Site Infrastructure Engineer comprise, but are not limited to, the following Support in the definition of requirements for site infrastructure, power and cooling systems Monitoring and guide, for ESA and under ESA responsibility, the development and procurement activities contracted to external industries this includes the definition of tasks, the engineering analysis review, the production, the acceptance and the handover for use for spacecraft operations Onsite supervision of enhancement and maintenance of site infrastructure activities buildings, power, cooling Participation in the definition, execution and evaluation of pre development studies by Industrial Contractors, related to site infrastructure, power and cooling systems Engineering support to adhoc corrective maintenance and operation tasks, during problem finding and rectification, requiring specific technical background in site infrastructure, power and cooling. The work will be performed primarily at the ESOC premises in Darmstadt, Germany, and will involve frequent and sometimes long duration travelling to locations worldwide. This is a fulltime position as a Terma employee for an placement at ESOC of 3 years, with a possible extension of 2 years. Ground Stations Maintenance Engineer

This position, based near Frankfurt in Germany, is for a consultant with at least five years experience in the Operations and Maintenance of large Ground Stations for GEO or LEO satellite missions. Our client is responsible for establishing and operating weather forecasting and Earth observation satellite programmes with associated data telemetry and dissemination operations. Vast quantities of data are produced and user communities throughout the world are able to access both current and historical data sets. The demanding realtime environment places much emphasis on adherence to quality and configuration management standards and procedures. The consultant will work in the clients System Engineering Department supporting various ground stations routine operations. The key experience and attributes sought are Maintenance and operations of large ground stations including site infrastructure Operation preparation phase, focusing on creation and maintenance of automated procedures to operate large ground stations from local and remote Ground Station designintegrationtesting in particular regarding the Antenna, RF Front End, Base Band subsystems and Monitoring Control Usage of Tracking systems including Antenna Control Unit ACUTracking receivers for large antennas to acquire either LEO or GEO satellite Operation and configuration of integrated TTC baseband equipment and ranging systems e.g. INSNEC Cortex type Usage of High Data Rate Demodulators RF measurement practices and usage of related instrumentation Knowledge of modulationdemodulation schemes applied by Ground to Space ICD for TTC and payload data transmission.
